Abstract

This study aims to find out To find out and understand the Modus Operandi of gambling crimes in the jurisdiction of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, and. To find out and understand the efforts made by the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police in uncovering the modus operandi of gambling crimes. The research was conducted in the jurisdiction of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, as well as research by interviewing perpetrators involved in online gambling and studying books, laws related to the material for writing this thesis. The results of this study indicate that: The Reality and Modus Operandi of Gambling Crimes in the jurisdiction of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police is that this Modus Operandi has various types. There are still those that are done conventionally or systematically, the modus operandi of online gambling crimes can be classified into two main lines based on their transactions, namely: Online gambling with a direct transaction system, this direct transaction modus operandi is online gambling carried out by gamblers using game applications in cyberspace which are the same as gambling that is usually done in the real world, the applications on the internet used by these gamblers certainly cannot be closed by the authorities because they are only applications used to entertain themselves without any gambling elements. There are various applications used to play this gambling, but the author will only take one of them, namely the Zynga Poker Application. Meanwhile, efforts made by the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police in uncovering the modus operandi carried out by perpetrators of gambling crimes include: conducting investigations and seeking information from the public regarding areas suspected of being places prone to gambling crimes, participating in gambling in the sense that police officers, especially members of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police
